Jogne, Gruyère - This is a truly great fly-fishing location. A total 5km of river are available to fish and you very rarely encounter other fishermen. The fish found here are mainly wild brown trout and grayling, but rainbow trout and roach are occasionally found in the dammed lake.
The river is most famous for its gorges, which can be fished with great success. The water features plenty of calm pools as well as the occasional rapids/waterfalls. The location is very easy to access, via the A12 motorway exit of Bulle. From here, a simple 15min drive to the location as seen below.
Dry-fly fishing, downstream wet fly fishing and many other techniques are compatible here. Just one note, the river is at times space-constricted, especially in the gorge, so don't expect to be making 20m casts. Also, beware of the dangers that can arise from being downstream of a significant dam.
Fishing permits available at the Bulle tourist office or the nearest post office. Costs range from 20-30 CHF per day per person.
