Kamchatka
The team undertook a 2 week survival fishing expedition down the Ozernaja river of northern Kamchatka. Our blog details our discoveries there.
Read about our expedition here!
The Fishing Exploration team organizes custom-made fishing expeditions to Kamchatka. The fishing here is extremely wild and untouched - if you know where to go! Expect bears, plenty of fish, and beautiful landscapes! You will be fishing amongst the volcanoes!

The fish
Expect to be mainly fishing for all types of pacific salmon (pink, chum, sockeye, silver, king and cherry). The salmon here can reach 10+kg.There are also significant numbers of searun Arctic Char, which are some of the most beautiful fish you can catch. All fish species can be caught in a huge number of ways; from streamer fishing, dry fly fishing or a downstream nymphing setup. This makes the fishing exciting and full of variation. There are also grayling, brown trout and rainbow trout present, and the brown trout and rainbow trout can reach huge sizes and be super aggressive. Mousing is a common technique here!

The fishing locations
In Kamchatka you can still find plenty of rivers and lakes where you will be truly alone to fish. This means that you will most likely spend your time completely immersed in nature, only disturbed by the occasional bear. These are the places we try and bring our clients to. As such, depending on the individual differences of your custom expedition, you will be cruising down a particular river system on large inflatable rafts, in waters that are full of wild, untouched fish. There is also the opportunity to fish in nearby lake systems, although this is secondary to what we do.

Where will you be staying?
The nature of our expeditions is that they are custom. If you have a particular request, we can most likely accommodate for it. That being said, we have two main formats: wild and lodge.

Wild
You will be staying in comfortable tents each night, and every morning you will board your rafts and go downstream to fish where you think is best. Guides will accompany us throughout the trip and will be fishing experts to help you out. Food will be provided.

Lodge
Here, you will stay in our partner lodge for the duration of your stay with us. This is a modern lodge which has all the basic necessities you may need. The homewaters will feature excellent fishing, and there will also be the opportunity to visit a couple of locations nearby. Food is obviously provided, and there is electricity access.
